Record income for Egyptian museums due to strong tourism
Egypt, Culture, 4/29/2000

The Egyptian archeological museums achieved a monthly income of 40 million LE which is the highest income in history of the Egyptian supreme council for archeology which supervises these museums.

A source in the Egyptian Culture Ministry asserted that this increase is due to an increase in tourism which reached its height in December, January and February as well as the opening of new archeological areas and museums.

The Luxor archeology area ranks first, with a monthly income reaching 30 million LE, then the pyramids area whose income reaches 5 million LE, then the Egyptian Museum with 4 million LE.

The source stated that new sets of unified visitation tickets will allow visits to more than one archeological site, like the successful experiments for visiting some of Luxor's archeology with a unified ticket.
