King Mohammed launches housing projects in Tangiers
Morocco, Economics, 4/28/2000
King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid and visiting Mauritanian President Mouaouia Ould Sid Ahmed Taya, launched on Thursday housing projects in several poor districts in Tangiers.
The king heard explanations on the $12 million operation, expected to considerably improve the population's living conditions.
Carried out in partnership between the state, local communities and the agency for the economic and social development of Morocco's northern region, the program, covering 279 hectares over three districts, will benefit around 7,000 families.
The first stage of the project will connect the three outskirts districts to the city's sanitation and sewage network.
