Arab Maghreb electricity grid group meets in Tripoli

The electricity grid group of the Arab Maghreb states held its annual meeting in Tripoli, Libya on Wednesday.

During the meeting, its participants discussed several topics including the Libyan-Tunisia electricity grid project, studying the necessary technical steps to operate this grid and the extent of its impact on the region, which includes Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey as well as Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco and from there to the European states.

The electrical power generated to this region is estimated at 68,000 megawatts while the generated electrical power which will be linked to Europe is estimated at 400,000 megawatts.

Taking part in the meetings of this group are experts and technicians in the area of electrical energy from Syria, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia and Egypt.
