Ben Ali agrees to invite foreign observers for coming elections

Tunisian President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali agreed on the participation of foreign observers to observe the general municipal elections in which the lists competing with the ruling party are expected to win for the first time no less than 1,000 seats-- 20% of the 5,000 total seats for which which they are competing in Tunis after the adjustment of Tunisian law.

Ben Ali excluded delaying results data from these elections although factions of the opposition parties called for delaying it.
