Russia denies initiative to revive Syrian track

Russia on Wednesday denied any Russian initiative to revitalize the Syrian track in the Middle East peace negotiations.

The information official at the Middle East department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Anatoli Kustantiv, said in an interview on Wednesday with the London-based al-Zamaan that Moscow has no plan or initiative to this effect to revitalize the stumbled negotiations between Syria and Israel.

This interview with the Russian official came after news reports from Beirut stated recently that a quite move was started by a group of Russian diplomats with the aim of containing the Syrian- Israeli negotiations and that a project had been prepared in Moscow to this effect.
