Habash resigns from his post
Palestine, Politics, 4/27/2000
The secretary general of the opposition People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine George Habash has stated that he is preparing to resign from his post, but he will continue political activities, and his resignation will be announced during the front's general conference due to be held today in Damascus.
Habash told journalists in Damascus on Wednesday that there is a difference between resignation from the general secretariat of the front and resignation from political work which, "I will continue, struggle for and withstand."
Habash (75) has held the post of the secretary general of the general secretariat of the PFLP since its foundation on December 11, 1967. Abu Ali Mustafa, Habash's deputy, is considered the most fortunate to succeed Habash.
