Health of Tunisian journalist deteriorates
Tunisia, Politics, 4/26/2000

Tunisian sources revealed yesterday deterioration in the health condition of Tunisian journalist Tawfik Ben Berik for his continuation of a hunger strike to protest being banned from writing.

Members of the group Reporters Sans Frontieres, located in Paris, who visited the Tunisian journalist stated that his health condition has seriously deteriorated.

The supreme court addressed accusations to Berik due to the publication of two articles about status of the liberties in Tunisia, saying that he published information in foreign newspapers that could violate the general security.
