Solidarity with Syrian prisoners in Israeli jails observed

The committee in charge of solidarity with Syrian prisoners in Israeli jails on Tuesday staged a sit in at the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Damascus, on the occasion of the Syrian Prisoner Day at the Israeli jails. This day is celebrated on April 21 every year.

In a statement addressed to world public opinion, the committee called for pressuring the Israeli authorities to abide by and implement norms and international charters regarding treatment of Arab prisoners in the Israeli jails.

The statement stressed the illegality of the Israeli occupation of the Golan, demanding an immediate release of all Syrian and Arab prisoners in Israeli jails.

The participants at the sit-in handed a statement to the director of the International committee of the Red Cross in Damascus, stated to improving the conditions of the prisoners and halting torture.
