Jordanian king meets with US official on Middle East peace
Jordan-USA, Politics, 4/26/2000

King Abdullah II of Jordan met on Tuesday in Amman with the US under secretary of state for Near East affairs, Edward Walker, and reviewed with him the Middle East peace process and the efforts exerted to resume this process on all tracks.

During the meeting, the Jordanian king underlined the role played by the US and the efforts made by US President Bill Clinton to revive the Middle East peace process and to help sides concerned to eliminate the obstacles which impede the realization of peace.

Walker, for his part, commended the efforts made by King Abdullah to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Meanwhile, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh discussed with Walker Middle East peace process developments and the role played by Jordan in giving a push toward attaining genuine progress on all tracks.

Al-Rawabdeh reviewed the challenges facing the Jordanian economy under such conditions and the problem of water shortage in Jordan as well as the need for a real help to eliminate this problem.
