Al-Assad enacts three decrees on economic crimes

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad has issued three legislative decrees for 2000.
Decree no. 5 says crimes of smuggling are subject to the rules of 1974 Legislative decree no. 13 if the value of the smuggled products exceeds 300,000 Syrian pounds and will be taken to the economic security courts.
Crimes of smuggled products valued at less than 300,000 pounds are transferred to the competent court authorities. Crimes of drugs are excluded and remain subject to special rules.
Decree no. 4 provides for modifying the economic punishment code whose rules are not applicable if the damage that occurred from the felony does not exceed 100,000 Syrian pounds.
Decree no. 6 pertains to foreign currencies and precious metals and substitutes for the legislative decree no. 24 and its amendments.
