Egyptian-American efforts for achieving breakthrough on Palestinian track
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 4/24/2000

"Palestinians have the right to restore all their territories occupied by Israel in 1967 regardless of the settlements that have been built," Egyptian Presidential Political Advisor Osama al-Baz said.

"These settlements were illegally built and any settler living in any of them knows for sure that he is risking many things," said al-Baz in statements to the press at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in Cairo on Saturday.

"The construction of such settlements is tantamount to a hush money to the extremist settlers or a message of intimidation to the Palestinians implying that any delay in solving the problem will trigger grave consequences," he added.

Baz expounded that a breakthrough on the Palestinian track is still likely, noting that Cairo and Washington are exerting efforts in that direction.
