Mubarak meets with UAE defense minister

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak yesterday held a session of talks with Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defense Minister Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum .

"President Mubarak and Sheikh Mohamed Al Maktoum discussed the ongoing contacts for activating the peace process and facing up to obstacles that obstruct negotiations on some tracks," Information Minister Safuat Al Sherif said following the talks held earlier in the day in the presence of a number of officials of both countries.

"The talks also touched on means of promoting bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation between the two countries and increasing the volume of joint investments in fields of information, culture, economy, technology or tourism," he added.

"Sheikh Mohamed Al- Maktoum conveyed to President Mubarak the greetings of UAE Head of State Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nuhayyan," he said.

"The President entrusted the UAE official with conveying his greetings to Sheikh Zayed," he added.

"President Mubarak and Sheikh Zayed are looking forward to promoting relations between the two countries ," he said.

The crown prince of Dubai will hold discussions with Egyptian Defense Minister Marshall Hussein Tantawi as well as with the Sheikh of El-Azhar. He will also visit the informational production city before leaving Cairo tonight.
