Arab women committee opens in Cairo

The Arab women advisory committee opened in Cairo Sunday its 25th session with the participation of representatives of Arab and international institutions concerned with women and family affairs.

The committee will examine a proposal to observe the Arab family day on December 7 this year, preparations to take part in the UN general assembly meeting on the theme "Arab women in 2000" and holding an Arab conference on women and poverty next March, sponsored by the Arab League in cooperation with Arab and international women organizations.

The Arab woman committee was set up in 1971 to improve conditions of Arab women.

Morocco is represented in this meeting by Latifa Bouhssini, in charge of studies at the secretariat of state for social protection, family and children.
