Stopping establishing private aviation companies in Egypt
Egypt, Business, 4/24/2000
General Abd El-Fattah Cato, head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Organization, told ArabicNews.com that it has been decided to stop establishing new private aviation companies in Egypt.
Cato said there are enough companies to fulfill passengers' travel needs where the number of Egyptian private aviation companies is currently 28 that includes four air transportation companies and five flying taxis.
He added that establishing new aviation companies could not be accepted as emphasis is now being placed on strengthening the existing aviation companies.
Meantime, "The Cabinet early next month will study a draft law on turning Cairo Airport to an independent economic entity," said Minister of Transport Ibrahim Al Demiry who added that the State Council is reviewing the bill in a bid to enact it before referring to the government.
He pointed out that he would visit Canada on Monday on the occasion concluding an agreement between EgyptAir and Canada Air lines on operating new regular flights from Egypt to Montreal and Toronto.
