Israel strikes Irish contingent in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/24/2000
The barracks of the Irish contingent working within UNIFIL on Saturday evening came under the fire from the Israeli occupation forces and the pro-Israel South Lebanon Army militia.
Israeli military sources, according to Israeli Radio, stated that confrontations took place between several numbers of the Israeli Army and its SLA agents and the Lebanese resistance at Hadatha in the occupied part of south Lebanon as a result of Israeli forces and the SLA militia launching random shells against the Irish contingent, and this resulted in heavy casualties at this position.
The Israeli forces stated that the UN forces strongly protested against the attack to the Israeli armed forces which started investigations to this effect.
