King meets chief of staff of US armed forces

King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, met in Rabat Thursday the chief of the general staff of the US armed forces, General Henry II Shelton, who arrived earlier the same day on a visit to Rabat. The king decorated General Shelton with the grand cordon of the Alawit Distinction and received a symbolic present from his guest.

General shelton was accompanied by his executive assistant, the US ambassador to Rabat and the US embassy's military attach.

The audience was attended on the Moroccan side by several senior officers of the Royal Armed Forces, mainly General de division Hosni Benslimane, General de division Abdelaziz Bennani, general de division Abdelhaq Kadiri, General de brigade Bouchaib Arroub and General Ahrouch Benali.

During the visit, the first ever to the Kingdom, General Shelton confers with several officials on Moroccan-American military and security relations, a statement by the US embassy in Rabat had said.

General Shelton's trip to Morocco is part of a tour that also included Jordan and Egypt.
