Romanian senators meet Moroccan officials
Morocco-Romania, Politics, 4/20/2000

A visiting group of Romanian senators held in Rabat Wednesday talks with Moroccan officials on means of upgrading bilateral cooperation.

The delegation met Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Mohamed Benaissa, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Handicraft Alami Tazi, Minister in Charge of Relations with Parliament Mohamed Bouzouba and the chairman of foreign affairs committee at the chamber of advisors (upper chamber of parliament), Soualhi Bouzekri.

The two sides voiced the will to conclude accords for the creation of a free trade area and called for finalizing the cooperation agreement binding the two countries.

Talks also covered Romania's candidacy for membership in the European Union and its efforts to consolidate its economy despite globalization constraints.

The Romanian senate delegation, led by the chairman of the foreign affairs committee, Ghiorghi Prisacaru, started Tuesday a visit to Morocco.
