Iran declares readiness to negotiate with UAE
United Arab Emirates-Iran, Politics, 4/20/2000

Iran asserted its readiness to negotiate with the United Arab Emirates to settle the conflict between them concerning three Gulf islands, Lesser Tunb, Greater Tunb and Abu Mousa.

Iranian President Mohammed Khatami expressed his hope that the UAE would respond soon to Iran's call in this field.

Negotiations previously took place between the two sides under the auspices of Qatar concerning this dispute, but they did not reach a result.

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid welcomed the Iranian steps and considered them steps on the right course that come out of the good Arab - Iranian relations.
