Tantawi receives Head of US Joint Chiefs-of-Staff

Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Egypt's Minister of Defense and Military Production, received Tuesday at Headquarters of the Defense Ministry. General Henry Shelton, head of US Joint Chiefs-of-Staff, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Tantawi and Shelton reviewed the situation on the regional arena and discussed means of developing military cooperation between Egypt and the US.

Shelton's meeting with Tantawi came within the framework of his two-day official visit to Egypt at the invitation of Chief-of-Staff Lt. General Magdi Hatata.

Hatata and Shelton held an expanded session of talks on means of furthering military cooperation between the two countries in the fields of armament and training as well as other issues of mutual interest.
