Sudan halts air strikes on civilians in southern Sudan

Sudanese radio on Wednesday reported that President Omar al-Bashir ordered a total halt to air strikes against civilians in southern Sudan.
The radio report added that President al-Bashir on Tuesday evening ordered the leadership of the Sudanese armed forces to halt all air strikes in the southern part of the country, and only to be launch such attacks in cases of self-defense and in areas where military operations are intensive.
He radio report added that the decision taken by al-Bashir aims at protecting the lives and properties of civilians in southern Sudan.
The radio report indicated that President al-Bashir called on the international community to pressure southern Sudan's rebels to protect the lives of civilians in southern Sudan.
