Saudi Arabia-Iran, Politics, 4/19/2000
The Saudi government is studying the signing of a security agreement with Iran and that Saudi Minister of the Interior Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz was assigned with the mission of holding talks with Iran to sign this agreement.
Well-informed sources in London told al-Hayat that the security agreement bill will be discussed during the visit to be held by Prince Nayef to Tehran by the end of this month, Al-Hayat reported.
The sources expected that the agreement will include cooperation between Riyadh and Tehran in fighting drug trafficking, terrorism and organized crime.
In May, 1998, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi signed an agreement on cooperation in the commercial and cultural areas.
