Some 5,000 persons illegally practice dental surgery
Morocco, Health, 4/18/2000
Some 5,000 persons are illegally practicing dental surgery nationwide in Morocco, according to estimates of the dental surgeons association.
The association's members, at a press conference Saturday, drew attention to the danger posed by this illegal practice to the health of citizens, underling the risk of transmission of diseases, such as AIDS and hepatitis.
They called on the authorities not to issue licenses for the opening of dental clinics by unqualified persons and to cut down taxes imposed on products and instruments used by dental surgeons.
The association is planning to stage an awareness campaign on this question.
