US hotel chain opens branch in Casablanca

The US hotel chain Marriot International, Inc. has opened a representation in Casablanca.
The announcement was made in Casablanca Monday by vice-chairman for world sales/USA, Middle East, Africa and South Asia, Samir Daqqaq, who said the US holding decided to open a general sales representation in Casablanca, due to the growth in business and leisure travel in Morocco.
Marriot International, Inc. has 18 similar representations in the Middle East and Africa and operates more than 2,000 tourism compounds in the United States and 55 other countries.
The Washington-based holding, which employs nearly 143,000 persons, posted a turnover of $8.7 billion in 1999.
