Koutla parties say Sahara dossier closed and shelved
Morocco, Politics, 4/18/2000

The standing coordination committee of the Koutla parties meeting in Laayoun Saturday with regional delegates said the Sahara dossier was definitely closed and that the kingdom will not give up a single inch of the Sahara.

The coordination meeting, attended by heads of the Istiqlal and OADP parties Abbas El Fassi and Mohamed Bensaid Ait Idder and other Koutla parties, delegates from Moroccan southern provinces, probed latest developments in the Sahara issue and socioeconomic development in the southernmost part of the kingdom.

The king's efforts and induced results such as the withdrawal of "SADR" recognition by several African and Latin American countries and EU's refusal to admit it in the Cairo Africa-Europe Summit of early this month, were covered. Proposals were also made to see to more mobilization for the defense of the country's territorial integrity.

The Laayoun meeting was also attended by USFP's Mohamed Guessous and PPS's Khalid Naciri.
