Odai Hussein wins journalism and possible regional implications
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 4/17/2000

Odai Hussein, son of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and editor-in-chief of Babel newspaper won the post of chief of the Iraqi reporters after the Iraqi reporters refused to run against him while they were satisfied to compete for lower positions and being members of the board of directors.

Odai's victory will affect the work of the Arab Journalists Union, as some chief journalists in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia refuse to attend any meetings of the union in his attendance.

Yet Arab sources stated that the Arab reconciliation could move from this basis to the level of the leadership, and there are large Arab press factions who view Odai's victory as an opportunity for reconciliation and not for disputes.
