Pakistani, Arab League chief meet

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid met today at Arab League headquarters with Pervez Musharraf, head of the executive authority in Pakistan, who expressed his appreciation for the Arab League and the Arab states' understanding of the positions of Pakistan.

Following the meeting, Musharraf said the consultations that took place between the two sides assured the league's full understanding of Pakistan's role in the area and of what is happening in Pakistan.

He added that he discussed with Abdul Meguid means of pushing economic cooperation forward as well as political issues of joint concern.

Musharraf said the situation in Kashmir, the situation in Afghanistan, the Palestinian cause and peace process developments were discussed and that Pakistan supports retaking all the Arab rights from Israel and that no stability will be established in the area without giving back Jerusalem as a perpetual capital of Palestine.
