King Abdullah to decide today on the parliament's request to change government
Jordan, Politics, 4/17/2000

It is expected that the Jordanian King Abdullah II will today settle the political crisis between the Jordanian parliament and the government.

The king will receive today the speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Abdul Hadi al-Majli, who will hand the king a message undersigned by the majority of members of the Jordanian parliament, calling for changing the government and criticizing the government's performance in all domains.

The king will chair over a meeting of the Cabinet today.

According to sources close to the Jordanian Cabinet, the king will reiterate his backing for the government of Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh and will criticize the parliament.

The message, which the parliament's members were very careful not to disclose its content includes hard criticism of the government and described it as the government of "the one-man show" in which the ministers have become only employees.
