Lebanese president arrives in Kuwait from Saudi Arabia
Lebanon-Kuwait, Politics, 4/17/2000

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud arrived in Kuwait on Sunday coming from Saudi Arabia for an official visit which will last for two days.

At Kuwait's international airport, the Lebanese president was welcomed by the emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and the crown prince and prime minister, the speaker of the parliament and high-ranking Kuwaiti officials.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti government has welcomed the visit by the Lebanese President to Kuwait. It stressed the importance of this visit to strengthen and develop relations between the two states in various areas.

The Lebanese president stressed that Lebanon is ready for the implementation of UN resolution 425 unconditionally and any Israeli threats accompanied with the withdrawal.

During his meeting on Sunday with the Lebanese community in Saudi Arabia, Lahoud said Lebanon wants a just and comprehensive peace. He stated that the recent meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in Lebanon had embodied the backing of the Arab states to Lebanon and that his current tour of the Arab states comes at a time of the critical conditions Lebanon passes and that the Lebanese position should be clarified to the whole world, especially in regard to UN resolution 425.
