Canadian committee calls for halting the sufferings of the Iraqi people
Iraq-Canada, Politics, 4/15/2000

The permanent committee for foreign affairs and international committee at the Canadian parliament has asked the government to put an end to the sanctions imposed on Iraq because it inflict great damages on the Iraqi people.

The Gulf News Agency said on Friday that a group of Canadian organizations called for lifting sanctions off Baghdad welcomed the statement of the parliamentary committee.

However, the deputy chairman of the new Canadian democratic party Robinson expressed his regret because the statement did not mention the consequences of the continued US-British air strikes against North and South Iraq which resulted in several killings among the innocent Iraqi civilians.
