Iraqi lawyers ask Jordan to close file of the Italian pilot
Jordan-Iraq-International, Politics, 4/12/2000

The Iraqi lawyers union asked the Jordanian judiciary to halt the legal procedures against Nicola Trifiani, the Italian pilot accused of violating the law and misleading the Jordanian authorities when he flew a small airplane from Rome to Baghdad through Amman, violating the air embargo imposed on Iraq.

In a statement issued yesterday, the syndicate stated that keeping the pilot forms a violation of the rules of international air travel and decided to form a three-member delegation to coordinate with the Jordanian lawyers' syndicate to end the case.

The Jordanian authorities allowed the pilot to leave Amman, and the case was turned over to the Jordanian aviation organization to follow up on it with the Italian aviation organization while the "86 B" airplane is still kept in Jordan
