Abd El-Maguid receives a message from the Sudanese foreign minister
Sudan-Regional-Canada, Politics, 4/12/2000

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid received a written message from Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael, which supports efforts by Abdul Meguid and the AL to defend Sudan's unity and support it in confronting foreign schemes conspiring against its stability and regional safety, especially its stance toward Canada and its call for raising the Sudanese issue in the United Nations Security Council.

Ahmed Abd El-Halim, the Sudanese ambassador to Cairo, who delivered the message, stated that Abdul Meguid addressed two messages to the UN Security Council and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in which he objected not to raising the Sudanese issue on the security council at a time when the Sudanese government exerts much effort to achieve peace and rapport in Sudan, in addition to regional efforts, especially in view of IGAD and the Egyptian- Sudanese initiative.
