New Egyptian ambassador to Sudan very soon
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 4/12/2000
Egyptian diplomatic sources said that Egyptian ambassador Muhammad Asem will head for Khartoum at the end of this week to assume his post of office as the first ambassador from his country to Sudan in six years after he was appointed by his government to this post two months ago.
Prior to heading for Sudan, ambassador Asem held meetings and consultations with several ministers from the Egyptian government in the course of arrangements and preparations to convene the first session of the joint ministerial committee chaired by the foreign ministers of Egypt and Sudan, Amr Moussa and Mustafa Othman Ismail, respectively.
In this respect several agreements were discussed during the consultations held recently between officials representing the two states. These consultations were crowned by a summit meeting held between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir in Cairo on the sidelines of the Afro-European summit which was held on April 3 and 4.
