The Canadian prime minister visits Egypt today

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien is arriving today in the first formal visit by a Canadian prime minister to Egypt to fulfill the invitation of the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak for discussing many issues of joint concern such as economic cooperation, increasing trade in addition to discussing obstacles of the peace process. Chretien's visit to Egypt comes in the course of his tour in the area that comprises Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestine to vitalize the Canadian role in reviving the peace process in the area in addition to Saudi Arabia to increase volume of the commercial exchange between Canada and Saudi Arabia.
