Morocco, Egypt resolved to increase trade exchanges
Egypt-Morocco, Economics, 4/11/2000

Moroccan-Egyptian joint commissions on trade and industry wound up works Sunday with the signing of a package of agreements meant to upgrade cooperation in economy, trade and investment and increase bilateral trade exchanges.

The two sides voiced determination to increase the volume of trade exchanges from the current $ 35 million to $ 200 million through lowering all the obstacles hindering trade between the two states.

They called on Moroccan and Egyptian businessmen to explore the opportunities offered by the free exchange area accord which came into effect in April 2000.

The meetings were co-chaired by Moroccan trade, industry and handicraft minister, Alami Tazi, and Egyptian peer, Youssouf Boutros-Ghali

The meetings are part of preparations for the high joint commission, which will meet next May in Cairo under the chairmanship of King Mohammed VI and President Hosni Mubarak.
