On Barak's meeting with Clinton
Lebanon-Israel-USA, Politics, 4/11/2000

The Lebanese daily al-Nahar issued on Monday stated that topics to be debated at the White House during the meeting between US President Bill Clinton and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak are five in the following sequence: Lebanon, the Palestinian track, the Syrian track, Israeli- Chinese relations and the future of Israeli-American relations.

The paper added that, according to American sources, Barak's position which states the need to give up all Israeli monitoring points inside the Lebanese territories after Israel's withdrawal was greatly welcomed in Washington, which sees it as an implementation of UN Security Council resolution 425.

The paper said Israeli military personnel of high ranks in the army who visited Washington last week informed the US administration that Israel will not keep one Israeli soldier in the Lebanese territories in July and that Barak refused proposals made by the Israeli Army's chief of staff, Shaoul Mofaz, to keep three monitoring points inside the Lebanese territories.
