Kuwaiti minister denies buying weapons from the US during Cohen's tour

Kuwait's deputy premier and defense minister, Sheikh Salem al-Sabah has, denied that the state of Kuwait signed any contract to buy weapons from the US during the visit made by the US defense secretary to Kuwait on Sunday.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Monday, Sheikh Salem said that discussions with US Secretary of Defense William Cohen centered on the general strategy for defense.
He stated that it is necessary to have Kuwait within the defense information and communications system which Cohen seeks to establish during his current tour of the region, SANA reported.
