Israeli- Mauritanian society established

An Israeli Knesset delegation on Sunday concluded a five-day official visit to Mauritania.
The chairperson of the Israeli delegation, Naomi Chazan, said that at the conclusion of the visit an Israeli- Mauritanian friendship society was formed.
The Israeli delegation had visited the northern areas of Mauritania where Israel is planning to develop bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of oases.
However, the Mauritania's opposition and public opinion have strongly criticized Mauritania's establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel in October 1999.
