Al-Shara confers with French official

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Sunday in Damascus received the director of the Middle East and North Africa department at the French Foreign Ministry.

Talks dealt with developments in the Middle East peace process and on what has been stated on a possible Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.

Al-Shara stressed Syria's backing for Lebanese stances concerning Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon.

The minister stressed Syria's support for the Lebanese stances.

The two sides also talked about the French role in giving a push forward to the suspended peace process on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks.

Present at the meeting were the deputy foreign minister, Seba Naser, the director of the West Europe department at the Foreign Ministry and the French ambassador in Damascus.
