Syrian FM receives a telephone call from UN chief

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Sunday received a telephone call from UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Discussions dealt with reports circulated on a possible Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories.
Al-Shara stressed Syria's backing for the Lebanese government to this effect and the importance of knowing the reality of the official Israeli stances, especially in light of the contradictory statements released by the Israeli government in this regard.
