Barak chairs a meeting for the Israeli Cabinet
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/10/2000
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has renewed his commitment to the refusal of the basis of a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and his refusal to recognize decisions of the international legitimacy resolutions, claming that the city of occupied Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel.
During the weekly session of his Cabinet on Sunday Barak was quoted by Israeli radio as saying that there is no return to the borders of 1967 and that his government will seek to keep the city of Jerusalem united under Israeli sovereignty.
Barak indicated that he will soon form a team of his ministers concerned with dealing issues on the Palestinians tracks. He said that he will add several heads of coalition blocs to this team in an attempt from his side to alleviate criticism made by the current political coalition bloc in Israel.
The rounds of Israeli- Palestinians negotiations held in Gaza, occupied Jerusalem and Washington have not so far attained any progress in discussing or implementing suspending substantial issues pertaining to these negotiations. These include redeployment, discussing the question of Jerusalem, deciding the fate of the Israeli settlements and the situation of the Palestinian refugees.
