Sadoun Hammadi reelected as speaker of the Iraqi parliament

Members of the Iraqi National Council (parliament) on Sunday in Baghdad reelected, for the second time Sadoun Hammadi as the speaker of the council following the legislative elections on March 27.
An Iraqi official source said that Hammadi was reelected to this post with the majority of the 250 members of the Iraqi parliament.
It was presumed that the speaker of the National Council was due to be elected on Saturday, but this date was postponed until Sunday in order to allow the members of the parliament to take their constitutional oath.
