Baz: Syrian track has reached a very important point
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 4/8/2000
Osama El Baz, the political advisor of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, stated that Israeli - Syrian negotiations reached a very important point, but it is wrong to expect that these negotiations would end up in an acceptable solutions in a few weeks.
El Baz asserted in press statements yesterday in Sanaa that Israel knew from the beginning that the Golan is not its land, and it must withdraw from it and confront the parties which do not accept this.
El Baz said the impasse in negotiations on the Palestinian track with movement on the Syrian track expresses the problem of the Israeli prime minister, who cannot move on the two tracks at one time, fearing confronting certain religious groups in the Israeli society.
