Qatar calls for peaceful settlement in Chechnya

Ambassador Ali Abd El Aziz El Kawari, the spokesman of the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that Qatar is following what is going on in Chechnya with concern and anxiety and that it calls for stopping the military operations and violations of the human rights there.
Kawari urged a peaceful settlement and long and direct talks between the Russian government and the Chechen leadership, clarifying that Qatar believes that the statement issued by the European Parliamentary committee contributes to achieving these goals.
