Declaration of establishing Gulf public conference opposing normalization with Israel today
Gulf-Kuwait, Politics, 4/8/2000
Kuwaiti political forces that include parliamentary and political activities that represent independent and Islamic liberal movements are declaring today the establishment of a public conference to oppose normalization with Israel in the Arab Gulf region.
Kuwaiti parliamentary sources said the conference seeks to resist all forms of normalization with Israel by peaceful means within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), adding that the conference's attitude toward normalization does not differ with the one stated by Kuwait and some of GCC member states.
Sheikh Sabah El Ahmed, Kuwait's first deputy prime minister and foreign minister asserted in press statements upon leaving London on March 10 to the attend meeting of the Arab foreign ministers that his country will not normalize with Israel as long there are occupied Arab lands.
