Iran keeps an Iraqi oiler
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 4/7/2000

The Iranian government said it will unilaterally release 2,000 Iraqi captives in the coming week.

The spokesman of the Iranian committee of the war captives said that the Iraqi authorities will receive the captives on the borders.

On his side, Nahia El-Kais, head of the legal department in the Iraqi ministry said that 1,033 Iraqi captives are to arrive in Baghdad on Saturday, saying that Baghdad has information that 1,118 missing Iraqis are in the Iranian detention places.

This comes at a time in which the Iranian navy intercepted an Iraqi ship in the Gulf, claiming it smuggles petroleum.
