Establishing new industrial zones in Syria
Syria, Economics, 4/7/2000
The Syrian government decided to specify a million Syrian liras for establishing industrial zones in Damascus, Halab and Homs in the first step by the new government headed by Mohammed Mustafa Miro toward economic reform.
Figures refer to a decrease in the volume of total investment in Syria since 1995, as private investment retreated from 17.4% to 8.5% in 1998, which has contributed to the halt in growth on the economy.
Mohammed Nagi, the deputy prime minister, said that 500 million lira would be used to achieve the industrial zone in Halab, saying that the specified amounts for these areas will be flexibly paid.
