Morocco to increase its exports to Iraq
Morocco-Iraq, Economics, 4/7/2000
Morocco will increase its exports to Iraq to $150 million under the oil-for-food agreement.
The decision was announced at the end of the 8th session of the Moroccan-Iraqi joint commission, held in Rabat.
Morocco's trade with Iraq is dominated by oil. In 1999, Morocco imported $200 million worth of oil, while exports did not exceed $8 million.
Under an accord with the U.N., Iraq is allowed to sell limited quantities of oil and cash is used to buy food and medicine.
