Italy vows to contribute to Yemen's development

Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini asserted to President Saleh during their meeting on Wednesday evening that Italy is determined to contribute to social and economic development in Yemen through the contributions of its establishments.
A statement released by Italian Foreign Minister Dini added that Italian companies will be active in the areas of the infrastructure and tourism. He expressed his hope of intensifying air flights between Rome and Sanaa notably.
The Italian foreign minister welcomed "the new mechanism that characterized the Yemeni foreign policy, which aims at encouraging merging this country with the Arab states and strengthening relations with countries situated on the other bank of the Red Sea."
During a dinner banquet held in honor of the Yemeni president, the two officials discussed conditions in the African Horn.
Yesterday, SABA reported that President Saleh paid a visit to the headquarters of Italian parliament, where he was received by speaker of the parliament where they have discussed means of enhancing the bilateral cooperation relations between Yemen and Italy, specially in relevance to parliamentary affairs.
They have ex hanged viewpoints related to the two friendly successful experiences in the field of democracy, parliament, consultation, local administration and human rights respect. Parliament speaker of Italy appreciated the democratic systems followed by the Republic of Yemen. He confirmed the strong willingness of the Italian government to extend its cooperation relations with the Yemeni government.
The Yemeni president arrived on Tuesday in Rome in a visit which will last for two days in the framework of a tour which so far took him to Canada and the USA.
