Report: Three Libyan Islamists handed over by Amman, executed
Libya, Politics, 4/7/2000
The London-based "Islamic Media Monitor" (al-Marsad al-Ilami al Islami) organization stated that the Libyan authorities executed three Islamists that Jordan had handed over to Tripoli.
In a statement the organization, which defends active Islamists in the world, said that, "The international reports we have received stated that the Libyan security forces killed three Libyan Islamists directly after their arrival in Libya, adding that the three men were among a group of eight men that the Jordanian regime handed over."
In March Amman admitted that it had evacuated eight Libyans due to their probable links to international "terrorist organizations," but did not give a date of handing them over.
Almost one month earlier the Monitor (al-Marsad) indicated that those people "have been exposed to great torture or even death in Libya." It called on international organizations in defense of human rights to swiftly move and adopt the case of other Libyan detainees and to work for stopping torturing them, save their lives and pressure the Libyan government to free them.
