Syria, Politics, 4/5/2000

In its weekly meeting chaired by Premier Muhammad Mustafa Miro, the Syrian Cabinet on Tuesday held a meeting.

The ministers listened to a comprehensive political review made by Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on current developments in the Arab and international arenas and the latest developments concerning the Middle East peace process.

Al-Shara also answered all inquiries raised by the Cabinet ministers.

The ministers discussed proposals connected to choices for operating the permanent mobile telephone project with the objective of defining the best choice.

The deputy premier for services, Muhammad Naji al-Otari, gave a briefing on the results of his visit together with the ministerial committee to Aleppo to follow up on the implementation of several important service projects. Among these projects are the potable water project, the drainage, the city sports and the industrial city.

A central completion committee chaired by al-Otari was established with the aim of following up on the implementation of the industrial cities in Damascus, Aleppo and Homs provinces and to allot a sum of one billion Syrian pounds to start work at these vital projects.
